SALEM, CT - Joseph Paul DeLorimiere, 77, beloved husband of Roseann of Round Hill Road in Salem, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT, after a brief illness. Born October 19, 1928, in Cohoes, he was a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Peltier) DeLorimiere. After high school, Mr. DeLorimiere served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1960, he married Roseann Fenner at the Colchester Federated Church. Mrs. DeLorimiere survives him. Mr. DeLorimiere retired several years ago after having worked as a salesman for Snap-On Tools for over 30 years. As a young man, he loved to go square dancing with his wife. He also loved NASCAR and raced for a time at the Waterford, CT, Speed Bowl. He also raced back in the 1950s at Pine Bowl Speedway in New York state. In addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, survivors include two children, Denise and her husband, Scott Fogg of Salem and Joseph Paul DeLorimiere Jr. of Salem; three sisters, Margaret Bonesteel of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Ann Joslin of Buskirk and Agatha Cummings of Cohoes; three brothers, James DeLorimiere and wife, Jeanette of South Whitley, IN, Calvin DeLorimiere of Cohoes and Roland DeLorimiere and wife, Barbara of Lubbock, Texas; two beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Benjamin Fogg; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Roger Jeffrey Wellwood. Friends and family may attend calling hours on Thursday, December 1, from 5-8 p.m. at the Aurora-McCarthy Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, CT.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday directly at The Congregational Church of Salem. Committal, with full military honors rendered by the Antique Veterans of Colchester, will follow in the Salem Green Cemetery.Donations in memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160, or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492-7522.
