MANCHESTER, N.H.-- Francis X. Demers, 68, of Manchester died Dec. 1, 2005 at Catholic Medical Center following a period of declining health. Mr. Demers was born on Sept. 8, 1937 in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late George and Marie (LaFrance) Demers. Fran was raised in Lynn, Mass., and moved to Manchester, N.H., where he enjoyed several years of employment by Dunfey Family Hotels. Subsequently Fran made a career move to Treadway Inns in Chicopee, Mass., where he became director of sales. Later, Fran relocated himself to Gray, where together, he and Alice (Welch) Demers, who were married for 17 years, established the Barn of 26 Antiques in 1977. Fran worked as director of sales at Holiday Inn by the Bay, and subsequently at Ascutney Mountain Resort in Ascutney, Vt. He later had a brief period of employment with Howard Johnson's Hotel in South Portland. Fran moved back to the Manchester, N.H., in 2001 where his lived until his passing. Selling and his love of antiques kept Fran busy and on the road. He was the consummate salesman and enjoyed every opportunity to meet new people. His career in sales allowed him to travel and meet many personalities, and he enjoyed telling stories about those people he met along the way. His family members and friends will surely miss him. There will be no service. Burial will be in the family lot of St. Jean de Baptiste Cemetery in Lynn, Mass., at a later date.
