Joanne DEMERS

Joanne "Joni' Demers, 61, of Grand Forks, ND died Friday, September 23. 2005 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Northwood, ND. Joanne Marie Demers was born May 23, 1944 in Grafton, ND the daughter of Sammy and Margaret (Collette) Demers. She was reared and educated at Oakwood attending St. Aloysius Academy and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966. She lived at the Jamestown State Hospital until 1988. She then moved to Grand Forks, ND where she lived until entering the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Northwood in July of 2005. Joanne enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, embroidery, crafts, watching TV, especially Who Wants Be A Millionaire and the Food Channel. She had a very special love for music. Joanne is survived by her mother: Margaret Demers of Grand Forks, ND; sisters: Judith (Gerald) Walz of Henderson, NV, Helen Jane (John) Rockford of Minneapolis, MN, Linda (Dave) Schmitz of Bismarck, ND, Darlene (Chris) Hansen of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Anne (Steven) Kummer of Medford, OR and Debbie DeMers of Fargo, ND; brothers: Dale (Arlene) DeMers of Grand Forks, ND and Wayne Demers of Grand Forks, ND; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Sammy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakwood, ND with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barnes Family Funeral Service, Henriksen-Kamrowski Chapel on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service and one hour prior to services in the church.
