Robert A. Dezotell, "Bob' age 63, of Hibbing, MN, died among family in McVille, ND on Monday, September 19, of leukemia. Bob was born on March 6, 1942 in Grand Forks, ND, to Fred and Alpha Tangen Dezotell, where he graduated from Central High School and went on to attend the University of North Dakota. He was stationed in Germany while with the United States Army and returned to Grand Forks to begin a long and successful career in the hospitality business. Bob began his career at the Westward Ho and went on to found Dezotell's Steak n Stein in 1973. He was also part owner of Whitey's in East Grand Forks, MN, and the Esquire Club in Dickinson, ND. Bob's career spanned more than four decades, and his hospitality philosophy was based on what he termed "The Pineapple Principle'. Bob lived his life by this philosophy and believed we all have the opportunity to give to everyone we meet. Bob's professional career included hotel management in Florida, Kansas, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. At present, he was managing the Hibbing Park Hotel & Suites in Hibbing, MN, for Jeno Paulucci. Bob was a mentor who touched many lives, both personally and professionally. He was a talented artist and watercolorist and a great friend to many. Bob will be remembered and deeply missed by his wife: Eileen Ringdahl Dezotell, daughter: Claire Berg Dezotell, New York City, son: Carl Berg Dezotell, mother: Alpha Tangen Dezotell, sister: Cynthia (Dwight) Kouba all of Grand Forks, ND, two brothers: Paul Dezotell of Grand Forks, and Doug (Lynn) Dezotell, Shelbyville, TN. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Paul Brewer, of Minneapolis MN, Daniel (Mayela) Ringdahl of Juno Beach, FL, sisters-in-law: Elsie (Ron) Reichert of Grand Forks, Margaret Ryan of McVille, ND and Marian (Joe) LoBiondo of Tempe, AZ. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Dezotell, and sister Rita Brewer. Funeral Services for Bob will be held Friday, September 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Published in the Grand Forks Herald on 9/21/2005.
