LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in The Cathe- dral of St. John the Evangelist for Patrick James Domingue, 73, who died peacefully at his home in the early morning of Tuesday, April 5, 2005.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.The Rev. Keith J. DeRouen, rector of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Con-celebrants will be the Rev. Monsignor Harry E. Benefiel, the Rev. Monsignor Charles Mal- let and the Rev. Randal Barras, associate pastor of The Cathe- dral of St. John the Evangelist.Born July 19, 1931 in Lafayette, Mr. Domingue was a gradu- ate of Lafayette High School and attended SLI where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Kappa Fraternity.He retired after 42 years from Washington Life Insurance Com- pany.At the time of his retirement in 1995, Mr. Domingue was First Vice President and a member of the board of directors. First li- censed in 1954, he was still ac- tive in the sales of life insurance and annuities.Mr. Domingue loved Mardi Gras. He was actively involved in local Mardi Gras activities for nearly 50 years and committed himself to the expansion of Mar- di Gras for all of Acadiana. He served as a board member of the Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association since 1956 and was a member of the board of directors of the Krewe of Gabriel since 1958. Mr. Domin- gue held numerous committee positions in both organizations, including chairman of the Kings Escort Committee for over 30 years. He ruled as King Gabriel XLIII in 1982 and King Lacassine of the Krewe of Attakapas in 1979 and was a member of Les Brig- andes de Lafitte.Mr. Domingue also served as commissioner and secretary- treasurer of the Teche Vermilion Fresh Water District Board since 1995, was a past member and chairman of the Lafayette Play- ground and Parks Commission and the Heymann Performing Arts and Frem F. Boustany Con- vention Center Commission, was a past member of the boards of directors of the Downtown De- velopment Authority, Lafayette Midget Football, Lafayette Little League Baseball, United Givers Club, and Hub City Kiwanis Club, and was a charter member of the Oakbourne Country Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1285.Mr. Domingue's other love, be- sides his family, Mardi Gras and the community, was the ULL athletic program. He was an avid sports fan and had been a track and field official since 1955.Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Laurel Lee Gillette Domingue, of Lafayette; his chil- dren, Laura Domingue and Re- nee Davis and her husband, Charles L. "Chip" Davis IV, all of Houston, Texas, and Patrick J. Domingue Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Wurzlow Domingue, of St. Pe- tersburg, Fla.; four beloved grandchildren, Ashley Domin- gue, of Charlotte, N.C., Morgan Domingue, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and James and Laurel Da- vis, both of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Helen Horaist, of Sunset, and Merrita Oldenburg, of Care- ncro; and his brother, Harold L. Domingue Sr., of Lafayette.He was preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Domingue; his parents, Delpha and Leota Domingue; his brothers, Frank and D. Roy Domingue; and his sisters, Lucy Conques and Juanita Trahan.A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. today in the Martin & Cas- tille Funeral Home.The family requests that vis- iting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and will continue from 10 a.m. Friday un- til time of services.Memorial contributions in Mr. Domingue's name may be made to the Cajun Track and Field Officials Association, 201 Reinhardt Dr., Lafayette, LA 70506, or to the charity of the do- nor's choice.Pallbearers will be Morgan Domingue, Theodore Domingue, Richard Domingue, Harold Lee Domingue Jr., George Oldenburg Jr., Frank Gerami II, George Lat- iolais and Alex Voorhies.Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick J.
