AUGUSTA -- Patrick L. "Pete" Dostie, 59, of Meadowrue Drive and formerly of Bridge Street, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta campus. He was born in Augusta on March 11, 1946, a son of the late Joseph A. and Lorraine (Lapierre) Dostie.While his illness eventually deprived him of much of his physical abilities and vigor, Pete accomplished much and lived life to its fullest. He treasured his family and his friends. He enjoyed a good argument, hunting and the outdoors, competitive games of billiards and chance, and traveling without hesitation to any sites throughout America, Canada and the world. His gregarious nature and contagious laugh overcame his illness and never left him.Mr. Dostie was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1964.He was a member and contributor to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.He was an Army veteran and a career serviceman whose commitment to his country defined his life. He volunteered for three tours in the Vietnam War as a materials-supply and accounting specialist and saw action as a combat soldier during the Tet Offensive. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with five service stars, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with palm, and a Bronze Star, with the 7th Calvary Infantry Division.He was predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey Dostie.Mr. Dostie is survived by a daughter, Joyce Fudge and her husband, Robert, of Wisconsin; five brothers, Wilfred Dostie and his wife, Sally, of Tennessee, Michael J. Dostie and his companion, Maggie Magee, of Hampden, Ronald J. Dostie and his wife, Robin, of Virginia, Donald J. Dostie and his wife, Gail, of Augusta and Andre J. Dostie and his wife, Brenda, of Massachusetts; two sisters, Lucille L. Weeks and her husband, Jeffrey, of Augusta and Therese M. Dow and her husband, Charles, of New York; two grandchildren, Samantha Rai and Holly Corinne Fudge; several nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Lisa Colby, her husband, David, and their loving family, of Augusta.Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Chapter, P.O.
