Raymond Eugene DUBE

HUBBELL - Raymond Eugene Dube, 73, a resident of Hubbell, passed away at Marquette General Hospital on Wednesday, December 7, after a short illness. He was born June 21, 1932, in Hubbell, a son of David and Edna (DeLisle) Dube. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1951. Later, he received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He worked for C & H Mining Company before moving to Maryland to work for GSA. In November of 1968, he returned to the Copper Country to become owner and administrator of Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell.He was married to Melvina Guilbault at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Houghton on June 21, 1952.He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as former Master of the Fourth Degree MSGR. A.J. Rezek Council 0472; was a former Grand Knight and held other offices of the Third Degree Torch Lake Council 2713.He was a ham radio operator, a member of the Keweenaw Sportsman's Club, and a life member of the Health Care Association of Michigan where he was on the Education Committee and past Region 5 Director. He was also a member of the American Health Care Association, a past Board of Review member for Torch Lake Township, and a retired member of the Hubbell Volunteer Department. He was instrumental in starting the Lac La Belle fishing tournament in 2001. He served for 14 years with the National Guard and was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher.Raymond was a Packer fan and a Red Wings fan. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and traveling. His family was very important to him.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, David, Theresa, Joyce, Paul, Hubert and Catherine; and a granddaughter, Holly Lynn Dube.Surviving are his wife, Melvina; six children, Raymond H. Dube of Hubbell, Sharon (Tom) Codere of Lake Linden, Mike (Kathy) Dube of Hubbell, Mary (Jerry) Schmitt of Hubbell, Jim (Mitzi) Dube of Hubbell and Dan (Terry) Dube of Allouez Township; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Weldon (Barbara) Dube of Glendale, Ariz., and Lawrence (Judy) Dube of Ishpeming; an aunt, Isabelle DeLisle of Lake Linden; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation will be on Friday, December 9, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden where the members of the Torch Lake Council Knights of Columbus will have a service at 7:30 and a parish prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Saturday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Burial will be in the Mt.
