MASSENA — Ernest A. Duprey, 87, of Massena, N.Y., died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena, N.Y.He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.Mr. Duprey was employed by Alcoa in the wire mill, as a crane operator, starting in 1946 and retiring in 1982.He was a member of the 25 year club at Alcoa and a member of the Ralph J. Davidson American Legion Post 538 in Mooers, N.Y.He was born on June 18, 1917, in Mooers, N.Y., the son of William Duprey and Clara (Higgins) Duprey.He graduated from Mooers High School.He is survived by a sister, Viola Hawkins of Hemmingford, Quebec; a brother, Douglas J. and wife Olivette Duprey of Mooers, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Duprey of East Greenbush, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Rose Duprey in infancy, Edward Duprey in 1994 and Clarence Duprey in 1998.For many years Mr. Duprey was involved in helping out at JAC Tower in Massena, during his employment at Alcoa and after.Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.Arrangements are being handled by Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews Street, Massena, N.Y., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, and from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005. Funeral services will be at Church Of The Sacred Heart at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, with the Rev. Dennis Duprey presiding, nephew of Mr. Duprey, with Rev. Donald J. Manfred concelebrating. Spring interment will be at St. Annes’s Cemetery in Mooers, N.Y
