ROCHESTER — Joseph H. Duval, 70, of Melrose Drive, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, after a short battle with failing health.Born Oct. 17, 1935, in Laconia, N.H., he was the son of the late Henry and Catherine Duval.He was currently working at Cleary Cleaners as a part-time driver. His illness stopped him from working and he very excited to get back to work. He had worked at Encore Shoe for most of his life.He was an avid fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed riding his snowmobile. You wouldn't have been surprised to see him working on his snow machines in the summer, getting them ready for the many winter rides. All of his friends and neighbors will especially miss him and his smile, along with his friends at Cleary Cleaners, and his favorite diner "Remember When".He is survived by his children, Greg Duval and his wife, Engelina, from Tennessee, Jerry Duval and his wife, Karen, of Rhode Island, Larry Elwell of Tamworth, David Elwell of Rochester, Nancy Huntress and her husband, Bruce, of Berwick, Maine, Donna Rabideau and her husband, Ronnie, of Colebrook, Cathy Gerard of Florida, and Sharon Turner of Rochester; 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his close friend and companion, Loretta Alty, of Rochester; his brother, Johnny Duval of Massachusetts; three sisters, Peggy Paradise of Boscawen, Sally Hahn of Meredith, and Sandra Miller of Salisbury, Mass.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends he had made over the years.He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Duval, in 1999; a stepdaughter, Vivian Rippert in 1989, and a granddaughter, Becky Elwell in 1984.Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the R. M Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester, N.H.
