Florabelle Nusbaum -- Kankakee -- Visitation for Florabelle Nusbaum, 100, of Kankakee, will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee. Rev. Kathy Sweet will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. She died Monday (Oct. 31, 2005) at Riverside Medical Center. Mrs. Nusbaum had worked until she was in her 80s. She was a crossing guard at Steuben School and had worked at Valspar and also at the YWCA with the kids. She had also worked at the Kankakee Clinic and as a nurse's aide at St. Mary's Hospital during World War II and at various grocery stores in the area. She was born Feb. 28, 1905, in Milks Grove, the daughter of Clarence and Edna Allain Dyon. Her husband, Donald A. Nusbaum, whom she married March 29, 1926, in Manteno, died in October 1965. She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Surviving are one son, Donald E. Nusbaum; one daughter, Doris Nusbaum of Bourbonnais; one sister, Mabel Alberts of Arizona; one brother and sister-in-law, Ambrose and Cleva Dyon of Kankakee; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sandra R. Davis of Bourbonnais. Deceased are two brothers, Russell Hollenbeck, LaVerne Dyon; and one grandson, Chris Nusbaum.
