LAWRENCE — William J. Fontaine, 82, of Lawrence, died on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Lawrence General Hospital. Mr. Fontaine was born, raised and educated in Lawrence, and has lived in Lawrence all. of his life. Before his retirement, he had worked as a carpenter for the former Alvino Construction Company of North Andover, and for Carl Woekel Construction of Methuen..He was a member of Local 111 Carpenters Union, and was a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish of Lawrence. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.The widower of Camille (Beauchesne) Fontaine, his family members include his daughter, Donna N. and her husband Kevin M. Langer of Lawrence; and his granddaughter, Christina Barrieau of Lawrence.. He has two brothers, Albert Fontaine of Salem, N.H., and Kenneth Fontaine of Lawrence. He has four sisters, Jeanette Rheaume. and Pauline Corneau, both of Lawrence, and Eva Custeau and Thelma Reynolds, both of Andover. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fontaine was predeceased by his sisters, Annette Levesque, Yvonne Ouellette and Rita Voisine.. ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Church, Methuen. The burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843, or to Elder Services of The Merrimack Valley, Inc., Development Office, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 5, Lawrence, MA 01843.
