ATLANTA, Ga. - Marc P. Fournier passed away on the morning of Nov. 19, 2005 after a sudden illness. He was born in Sanford on Sept. 7, 1965. He grew up in Sanford and Well, graduating from Brunswick High School in 1983, after which he was active in business, politics, and fraternal organizations. Those who knew him recall his easy wit, strong work ethic, and above all his extreme kindness and generosity. He always gave freely of his time, talent, and abundant energy to help organizations and individuals in need. In 2000, Marc Fournier moved to Atlanta, pursuing a career in retail management. There, under the stage name of Soolaiman, he soon became a local celebrity as the lead singer for the Neil Diamond tribute band, The Hot August Knights. During the next four years, he entertained audiences in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast, and appeared in the documentary, Feel Neil. He is the son of the late Normand G. Fournier. Marc is survived by his mother, Priscilla Gadbois and step-father Albert Gadbois of Kennebunk; a sister, Susan Ricksecker, brother-in-law, Charles Ricksecker, and nephew Dylan Ricksecker of Islamorada, Fla.; and his brother, Michael and sister-in-law Marjorie Adler of Atlanta, Ga. Services will be held at St. Martha's Church in Kennebunk, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
