SEMINOLE, Fla. -- Joseph L. "Joe the Pro" Gagne, 74, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at his home in Seminole.He moved to Seminole from his native Hallowell, Maine in 1963. A magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University with a master's in English, he began his teaching career in Maine at Monmouth Academy and Gardiner High School. He retired from Boca Ciega High School in 1988 after 25 years. Graced with perfect pitch and naturally curly hair, he was councilman of Ward 1 in Hallowell and a rising political star on the fast track to mayor and more when he decided to relocate to Seminole.Joe was an active member of the Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club and avid golfer. He acted as ranger and earned his title of "Joe the Pro" at Seminole's Baypoint Golf Course in winter and Cobbossee Colony in summer. An enthusiastic fan of both the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he divided his time between his home in Seminole and his lakeside cabin in Maine, where he indulged his love of nature.He is survived by the light and love of his later years, his wife, Lorraine; his son, Joseph Gagne and his wife, Cindy, of Seminole and their children, Joel, Jane and Patricia; son David Gagne and his wife, Chris, of New Hampton, N.H., and their children, David, Tayanna and Gerald Joseph; son Brad Gagne and his partner, Donny, of Long Beach, Calif.; siblings Elaine Bender, Linda Young, Bonnie Coupar and Leon Gagne; and a large network of family and friends. --- GAGNE, JOSEPH L., 74, of Seminole, died Monday (Dec. 19, 2005) at home. He graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University with a master's degree in English. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; three sons, Joseph, Seminole, David, New Hampton, N.H., and Brad, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Leon, Dunnellon; three sisters, Elaine Bender and Linda Young, both of Hallowell, and Bonnie Coupar, St. Petersburg; and six grandchildren.
