WATERBORO, Maine — Richard Jacques Gagnon, 71, of Waterboro, died Monday at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness. He was born on Jan. 5, 1934, in Salmon Falls (Rollinsford) N.H., the son of Joseph T. and Andrena Garneau Gagnon. He graduated from Sanford High School in 1952. He married Lillian Mauzerolle in 1955. In the same year they moved from Sanford to South Waterboro, where Richard and his father established an American Motors auto dealership which he operated until he retired in 1980. He was a hard working dedicated man who instilled these values in his family.He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Ridley and her husband, William, of Oakland; three sons, Stephen and his wife, Katherine, of Saco, Brian and his wife, Tina, of South Waterboro, and Lt. Col. Craig of Arlington, Va.; one sister, Helene Cordova of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, John and his wife, Sandra, of Lyman; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Holy Family Church located on North Avenue in Sanford. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main St., in Springvale, Maine.
