Rita GAGNON

BENNINGTON — Rita Gagnon Amadon, 88, died Nov. 27, 2005, at her residence.Born in Arlington on Sept. 7, 1917, she was the daughter of Joseph P. and Sarah (Buck) Gagnon.She was a graduate of Arlington High School class of 1935 and St. Joseph's Business College in Bennington in 1937.She married C. Mason Amadon on May 30, 1941, in Bennington. He died in 2004.In earlier years, Mrs. Amadon was employed in the office at the Allen A. Manufacturing Co. Later she was employed as office manager at Bennington Brush Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1981.For many years, she served as treasurer of the former St. Francis de Sales Church Altar Rosary Society. She was past secretary/treasurer of the Bennington Club and was active in RSVP.She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing cribbage. She also spent time with the patients at Crescent Manor Care Centers.Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.The funeral will begin with a prayer at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.Friends may call from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington or to Sacred Heart School, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
