BROUSSARD, CLARA ETTA GARDNER A loving daughter, wife and mother and a resident and native of Plaquemine, she died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City. She was 64 and a retired switchboard operator and secretary with Georgia Gulf and BellSouth. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. She is survived by her mother, Athleen Gardner Coburn of Brusly; husband, Paul B. Broussard Jr. of Plaquemine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Kerry Seneca of Plaquemine and Sandra and Tom Gates of Lenoir City, Tenn.; two sons, Chad Michael Broussard of Norfolk, Va., and Donovan Lee Broussard of Brusly; daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Gerace Broussard Murphy of Addis; sister and brother-in-law, Twilah and Robert Haynes of Brusly; and five grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Broussard, Kristen Elizabeth Seneca, Nicholas James Seneca, Adam Chandler Gates and Elise Noelle Gates. She was preceded in death by her father, James Alfred Gardner; son, Mark Paul Broussard; stepfather, Deas Alex Coburn; and infant son, Dwayne Paul Broussard. She was past president of the Baton Rouge Gem & Mineral Society, created wire wrap jewelry, was former grand champion cook at the Acadian Festival and was a member of the Cajun Travelers. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Published in The Advocate on 12/29/2005.
