Ellis, Juliette Marie Genre A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at Sherwood Manor Nursing Home. She was 93. Juliette graduated from Hotel Dieu in 1934 as a registered nurse. She attended Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn., then worked in Thibodaux and Franklin and in Port Gibson, Miss., as a public-health nurse. In 1995, at the age of 82, she learned to use a computer and wrote a book of memoirs titled "Bayous and Backroads," which was published in 1997. She was active in her Sunday school class and other volunteer work in the community. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Danny Henderson. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ellis and husband Allan B. Corderman of New Orleans and Ellen Drew Ellis and husband Grady K. Hungate of Denham Springs; sister, Corinne Clark of Denham Springs; brother, Vincent Genre of Denham Springs; grandchildren, Nancy W. Engbert, Amy W. Amessoudji and Julie Ellen Hungate; and great-grandchildren, Drew Engberg, Grace Engberg and Joy Amessoudji. Pallbearers will be Ferdie Genre, Brandon Genre, Mark Genre, Russell Clark, J.B. Genre and Peter Genre. Preceded in death by her parents, Fernand L. and Anna S. Genre; sister, Anna Mae Henderson; and brothers, Nolan, Milbourne, Joseph, Raymond, Agile "Mike" and Leon Genre. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Denham Springs. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Denham Springs Building Fund. Published in The Advocate on 10/27/2005.
