Edward J. GERMAIN

QUEENSBURY -- Edward J. Germain Jr., 56, died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at his residence. Born in Albany, he was the beloved son of Edward J. and Elizabeth Zappone Germain Sr. of Glenmont. Ed was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. Ed was a proud employee of Niagara Mohawk-National Grid for over 30 years. During most of his tenure, he served the Capital District and the North Country as a linemen of the highest ranking. Later in his career, he was promoted to a line-foreman, and then to supervisor. Ed was enormously proud of his career and the service he performed for this area. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting with his father and good friends Jeff Inglee and John Arcuri and earlier with Dennis Bouck. He was an accomplished skier who looked forward to skiing with his friends Mike Turner and Jim O'Keefe. Ed was a devoted family man and a loving and caring son, husband, father and brother. He especially enjoyed attending his daughters' concerts and track meets. Loving husband of 25 years to Linda Berthiaume Germain; father of Scott, Lisa and Sara Germain; brother of Marjorie Rossi of Scotia and Mark Germain of Montana; son-in-law of Geraldine Berthiaume of Rotterdam and the late Fernand Berthiaume. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.Published in the Post-Star on 12/16/2005.
