Robert A. "Mr. Gilly" Gilbert, 76, of Merrimack, N.H., died Dec. 4, 2005, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a lengthy illness. Mr. Gilbert was born July 9, 1929, in Nashua, son of the late Albert and Bernadette (Brodeur) Gilbert.He was the widower of Dorothy (Roberts) Gilbert, who died in 1997.Before retirement, Mr. Gilbert was employed at Nashua Corp. in Merrimack as a machinist.He loved playing pool, and also loved dogs. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He loved socializing with his friends every day.Mr. Gilbert was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion Post 98 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8641, both in Merrimack.Besides his wife, a brother, Arthur Gilbert, and a sister, Theresa Goulet, predeceased him.Survivors include a daughter, Kandice Gilbert-Pelissier, and her husband, Edward Pelissier, of Merrimack; a stepdaughter, Linda Salisbury of Deerfield; three grandchildren; two sisters, Claire Marquis and Lucille Kearney, both of Nashua; and several nieces and nephews.The George R. Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack is in charge of arrangements.
