Bertha M. Preston Bertha M. Preston, 89, of McNair Manor and formally of Elmwood Drive, Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 following a brief illness. Born in Port Elgin, daughter of the late John and Bertha (Johnston) Horsman. Bertha was a retired School Teacher in Moncton area schools with 35 years service, member of Humphrey Memorial United Church, member of the U.C.W. and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a graduate of Fredericton Normal School, member of The NB Retired Teacher's Association, Flora Rebekah Lodge #20 and The Ladies Auxiliary Sunny Brae Legion #80. Bertha enjoyed knitting, sewing and had a great passion for reading and acquiring new knowledge and education. Bertha will be sadly missed by her sons, Ralph (Barbara), Moncton, Bruce (Carolyn), Berry Mills, Lorne (Tom) (Samia), Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Brent, Kari, Shannon, Shawnda, Christie, Robert, Jeff, Tim, Brady and Lucas; great grandchildren, Brianna, Gracie, Morgan; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her husband, Willis J. Preston (Dec. 2003); one son, Bill (Jan.1998); sisters, Elsie, Anna and Grace; brothers, Alsie, James and Jack. No visitation by personal request. Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Friday , November 26, 2004, 11am, Rev. Andrew Richardson officiating. Reception following the service.
