COHOES - M. Agnes Caldwell, 90, died November 28, 2005, at St. Peter's Hospital of leukemia. Born on November 23, 1915, and raised in Northside, Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Alexis and Amanda Brisette Giroux. She was the wife for 50 years to Frederick Douglas Caldwell Sr. who died July, 31, 1992. They received a pontifical blessing on July 19, 1961, from Pope John XXIII. In her early years, she and her husband enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the big bands and attending horse racing at Saratoga. Agnes was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles, playing bingo, watching game shows and playing cards with her friends and neighbors. She was educated at St. Anne's School and in 1927, at the age of 12, became a child of Mary. In 1953, she joined the Cohoes Columbiettes and became a life member. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne since 1943. Mrs. Caldwell retired from Troytown Shirt Co. in Cohoes in 1977, but also had worked at Cluett's in Troy and the GE in Schenectady. She is survived by a son, Frederick Douglas Caldwell Jr., and the love of her life, her grandchildren Sara Marie, Agnes and Zachary Douglas Caldwell. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Marra Funeral Home, Remsen and Columbia streets in Cohoes, and at 9:30 from Holy Trinity Church in Cohoes. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterford. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in Mrs. Caldwell's memory to St. Peter's Hospice of Albany County, the Sisters of St. Joseph's Provencial House General Fund, 385 Shaker Rd., Watervliet, NY 12110, the American Cancer Society or Holy Trinity Church Cohoes.
