Laura Lancto, family matriarch and longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow and Briarcliff Manor, passed away on June 6, 2005 at her daughter's home in Ossining. She was 101 years old. Mrs. Lancto was born on December 11, 1903 in Saint Neree, Quebec to Pierre and Amanda Laflamme Godbout. She was one of eleven children. She came to the United States in 1922 and settled in Sleepy Hollow in 1928. She worked for General Motors, P.R. Mallory and later the Tarrytown Conference Center until her retirement at age 76. Mrs. Lancto was a member of the St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor, and a former member of St. Teresa's Church in Sleepy Hollow. For many years, she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Briarcliff Senior Citizens. She volunteered at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow until the age of 88. Laura Lancto was the loving mother of Raymond Lancto of Tarrytown, June Lancto of Briarcliff Manor and Patricia Bancroft of Ossining. She was the beloved grandmother of Christian and Drew Bancroft and great-grandmother of Jacob Bancroft. She is also survived by her sister Mary Anna Rolla of Ware, MA, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be at Waterbury and Kelly Funeral Home, Briarcliff Manor from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, June 8. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff on Thursday at 10 am. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Donations in her name to Phelps Hospice, 701 N.
