GOUIN, Robert L. -- Kalamazoo -- Mr. Gouin passed away early Saturday morning, April 30, 2005 at his home with his family by his side. He was born June 29, 1931 in Isabella, MI, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Turan) Gouin. Bob worked in construction for 35 years for both Titus Construction and Vector Construction. He was a member of the Michigan Laborers Union – Local 640, and Hart to Heart Ministries in Portage. On November 29, 1952, Bob was united in marriage to Loretta Sherlock in Nahma, MI. Surviving are his wife, Loretta; 7 children, Michael (Carol) Gouin of Kalamazoo, Rose Bowler of Kalamazoo, Steven (Jo Slusher) Gouin of Kalamazoo, Joy (Mike Franklin) Gouin of Richland, Lynette (Thomas) Rice of Galesburg, David (Lisa) Gouin of Kalamazoo, and Diane (Robert) Hostetler of Comstock; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Macala, and Malea; 3 brothers, Edward "Edmond", Albert, and John Gouin; and 2 sisters, Rose Pilon, and Marie Johnson. Preceding him in death are his parents, and 6 brothers, Joseph, William, Charles, Henry, Richard, Francis and James Gouin. Funeral services for Mr. Gouin will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with Rev. Joan Hart officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
