AMESBURY, Mass. -- Rosemarie Ebacher, 76, of 3 Heritage Vale passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after a courageous battle with cancer.She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Raymond Ebacher, who died this past August. Born in Fairfield, Maine, on Nov. 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Exilia (Lemieux) Grondin of Augusta, Maine.Rosemarie attended Hallowell High School, graduating in 1945, and worked for the state of Maine. She later worked for the Veterans Administration in Togus, Maine, before transferring to Holyoke. In 1968, she graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught remedial reading and basic skills in Norwalk, Conn., where she lived until her retirement in 1989. When in Norwalk, she served as a Eucharistic minister at her parish church.Moving with her husband to Amesbury in 1989, she became an active communicant of Holy Family Parish and member of the St. Anne's Sodality. Earlier in her life, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Augusta.She is survived by two sisters, Alice Thibeault of San Diego and Janet Belanger of Brick, N.J. She was the sister of the late Arlene Grondin and Loretta Paradis. Rosemarie was loved as a sister by her brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as he dear cousins and friends. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Holy Family Parish's Sacred Heart Church, 67 Friend St., in Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours were held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Holy Family Parish Renovation Fund, 6 Allen's Court, Amesbury, MA 01913.
