GROVETON -- Gerard A. “Jerry” Guay, 49, died on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2005, at Littleton Regional Hospital, after a recent illness.He was born in Berlin on Nov. 5, 1955, the son of Lionel E. and Elaine (Macy) Guay.Jerry was raised in the Berlin/Gorham area and later moved to Lancaster, where he was graduated from White Mountains Regional High School in 1973.In 1975 he started his 20-year career with the Army, during which time he served in Desert Storm. After retiring from the military, he returned to the North Country and for five years worked as the chef at the Continental 93 in Littleton.He enjoyed snowmobiling, golf, bowling, chess, and all types of fresh- and salt-water fishing.Memberships include the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.Family members include his wife, Monika (Wallesch) Guay of Groveton; his nine-year-old son, Patrick N. Guay of Groveton; a daughter, Belinda King of Derry; his father, Lionel E. Guay of Lancaster; a brother, Danny Guay and his wife Lisa of Groveton; three sisters, Judy Matthews and her husband George of Lancaster, Linda Boucher and her fiancé John Riley of Derry and Jennifer Lapointe and her husband Daniel of Gorham; a granddaughter, Rhea; and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Elaine Guay died on March 6.Visiting hours were held on Friday evening, March 18, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service was held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Merton Rymph of Lisbon officiated.
