Mrs. R.T. Hamel Passed peacefully October 7, 2005 at the age of 97. R.T. was the beloved wife of the late Reverend Linel Hamel. R.T. was born on January 9, 1908, in Taft, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of ten children. R.T. was married to the late Reverend Linel Hamel for seventy-three years. R.T. lived in Redwood City and Palo Alto was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Redwood City for over fifty-six years. She was well known throughout the Redwood City and Palo Alto communities for her kindness, generosity and great cooking. R.T. was the mother of twelve children. R.T. leaves to cherish her precious memories: five children, three sons: Linel Hamel Jr. (Ollie) of Belmont, California; Dale Hamel (Mary) of Sunnyvale, California; Clarence Hamel Sr. (Charleen) of San Jose, California; two daughters, Bobbie Sue Melton (Robert) of Modesto, California; Betty Glass (Kenneth) of Palo Alto, California; three daughters-in-law, Lottie Mae Hamel of Zachary, Louisiana; Addie Hamel of San Jose, California; and Bessie Hamel of Menlo Park, California; four generations of grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Quiet hour will be held at JONES MORTUARY, located at 660 Donohoe Street, East Palo Alto, California on Thursday, October 13, 2005 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Home going service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 134 Hemlock Street, Redwood City, California, Pastor Fred Campbell officiating. Published in the San Jose Mercury News on 10/13/2005.
