Helen Merle HAMPTON

GALLANT, HELEN MERLE Helen M. Gallant passed away peacefully Thursday, December 1, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer for four years. Helen was at home, surrounded by family members who will always love her dearly. Helen, 69, was born on July 12, 1936, in Batavia, New York. She was the youngest of six children of Charles and Ruby Hampton. She will best be remembered for her strength and positive attitude toward life. She had a special relationship with her children who care about her very much. Helen had a huge circle of friends and was loved by everyone she knew. She was kind, giving, loving and had a beautiful spirit. Her enthusiasm in everything she did will be in our memories forever. Survivors include her husband, Jack Gallant; children Charles Gallant, Debora Merle, David Gallant and Julie Gallant and grandchildren, Keenan Sullivan, Rory Sullivan and Dana Brown. In addition to spending time with her children and grandchildren Helen loved to race sports cars. She was a member of the Convair Sports Car Club for 20 years, and had participated in numerous races and club activities. Her favorite hobby was traveling. She had enjoyed many trips to places around the world including Australia, Europe, China, Singapore and Ireland. She also enjoyed gardening and collecting antique dolls. Helen was employed by Lockheed-Martin, formerly General Dynamics Convair Division. She was a retired Quality Control Inspector and Supervisor who worked in the defense industry in San Diego for 35 years. She was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2655 Camino del Rio North #100, San Diego, CA 92108-1633, or to a charity of your choice. WE ALL LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH.
