SANFORD - Lucien R. Harton Jr., 56, of Sanford died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005. Mr. Harton was born in Biddeford on Sept. 3, 1949 in Biddeford, the son of Lucien and Irene Bechand Harton, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Sacred Heart in Andover, Mass. Lucien proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the V.F.W. in York and was also a member and past treasurer of the Elks Lodge in Wells. Mr. Harton worked as an electrician and was a member of the I.B.E.W Union Local 567 out of Lewiston. he was also a certified locksmith. Lucien was a very devoted husband and family man, taking long walks alone on the beach with his late wife was a favorite of his. He loved going to cookouts and other functions and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. Lucien was also a lover of animals; he missed Missy, his late German Shepard very much. During the holiday season, Lucien was affectionately referred as the Grinch by those closest to him. This was a term of endearment and did not reflect his true feelings about the holidays. Lucien loved to watch movies with Scrooge in them, he would watch the constantly from the day after Thanksgiving all the way through Christmas. Collecting movies was a hobby of his. He was a big Star Trek fan and his collection reflected this, he owned every episode from the first series and was working on his collection of the second series. Lucien will be remembered as a kind and loving person and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends Lucien was predeceased by his wife, Natalie A. Harton in 2004. Surviving are daughter, Cathleen A. Wilmot of Sanford; son, Lucien R. Harton III and his partner Ron Nassef of Middletown, Conn.; three step-children, Gregory A. Hutchinson and his wife Cheryl Farrell of Sanford, Tracy Poisson and her husband Gary of Sanford, and Danny Hutchinson and his wife Tina of Sanford; 10 grandchildren, Leah, Ashley, Andrew, Emily, Rachel, Joshua, Courtney, Harry, Katie and Keith; his best friends, Joel Sawyer and Bill and Rose Perry, from Wells; and his beloved pets, Mineu the cat and Buddy the dog. A period of visitation will be held at Carll-Heald& Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main St., Springvale, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 2-4 p.m. for members of the family and from 6-8 p.m. for all. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
