PLATTSBURGH -- Huleta "Leta" Marcotte, 82, of Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at her home surrounded by her daughters, JoAnn, Cathy and Patti following a brave battle with cancer.She was born in AuSable Forks on Jan. 16, 1923, the daughter of Jay and Florence (Soulier) Hathaway.Leta married John Marcotte on March 23, 1941.Mrs. Marcotte attended AuSable Forks School and Northern Adirondack School. She worked for many years at Ronnie's Michigan Stand in West Plattsburgh and part time in her later years at McSweeney's. Mrs. Marcotte was past president and treasurer of the American Legion Post 1619 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary in Plattsburgh. Leta enjoyed her special time with her granddaughter and husband, Shona and Pat Doyle who shared many hours with "grandma" watching NASCAR along with many other activities.Survivors include one son, Alan Marcotte and his wife Theresa of Courtland, Va.; four daughters, Betty Davis of Gulfport, Miss., JoAnn Perry and her husband Rick of Witherbee, N.Y., Cathy Belisle and her husband Art of Gulfport, Miss., and Patti Racette and her husband Jeff of Plattsburgh; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, with another due on Dec. 5; one great-great-grandchild, with another due in February; her stepfather, James Montebello of Owls Head, N.Y.; and one aunt, Belle Kozak of Schenectady, N.Y.She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Marcotte in 1990; and one son, Larry Marcotte in 2000; and her parents, Jay Hathaway and Florence Montebello.Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A wake service will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the spring in St. James Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
