LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Lillian Hernandez Girard, 87, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at her residence.Interment will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Scott.The Rev. Jody Simoneaux, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Girard, the daughter of the late Arthur Hernandez and the former Eugenie Broussard, was a native of Judice. She worked for Blue's Laundry, the School Food Service in the cafeteria, and was a seamstress for Abdallas, C.J.'s Menswear, Partners Ltd. and Our Lady of Lourdes. Lillian was a member of the Ladies Alter Society at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a life member for the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, color bearer for the 3rd District American Legion Auxiliary, Past President of Unit 69 American Legion Auxiliary, an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 289 in Parks, La., and a lifetime member of the Lafayette Multi-Purpose Senior Center.Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Lawless Girard; two daughters, Gloria Trahan and husband, Pat, of Lafayette, Wanda Goulas and husband, Russell, of Breaux Bridge; six grandchildren, Ramona Taylor and husband, Tony Sr., Kelvin Broussard Sr. and wife, Stephanie, Lisa Brewer and husband, Kenneth I, from Lafayette, Connie Harrington, from Youngsville, Jeremy Goulas and Rusty Goulas and wife, Leah, of Breaux Bridge; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bella Domingue, of Scott.She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mayo Hernandez and Wilfred "Monkey" Hernandez Sr.; two sisters, Opal Victoria Hernandez Delhomme, Florence B. "Flo" Broussard; and one great-grandchild, Anthony Sellers Jr.Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today by Wanda Goulas.Pallbearers will be Kelvin Broussard Sr., Kelvin Broussard Jr., Tony Taylor Jr., Mark Taylor, Jeremy Goulas and Rusty Goulas.Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Taylor Sr., Kenneth Brewer I and Kenneth Brewer II.Personal condolences may be sent to the Girard family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com.Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
