INTERLAKEN - Gerard A. "Chick" Heroux Sr., age 75, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 25, 2005.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street, Ovid. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2005, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Interlaken, with Father William Winters, OFMCap officiating. Interment will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken with Military Honors offered by the Color Guard of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 of Trumansburg. The family would ask that friends join them for a time of fellowship at the American Legion in Trumansburg following the interment.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Interlaken Fire Department, P.O. Box 274, Interlaken, NY 14847, or the Trumansburg American Legion Post #770, P.O. Box 456, Trumansburg, NY 14886.Chick was born on January 7, 1930 in Watertown, Connecticut, a son of the late Joseph and Amanda Heroux. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Chick spent his lifetime farming and working the soil. He had been employed by what is now known as the George Farm in Interlaken for more than 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Francis Solanus Church, and a member of the Arthur E. Bouton American Legion Post #770 in Trumansburg. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with projects in his shop. He and his wife recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 4th.He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, James "Jim" (Renee) Heroux of Trumansburg; a daughter, Amanda "Mandy" (David) Fulkerson of Weedsport; grandchildren, Robert, James, Christian, Sean and Emily; and great-grandchildren, Jamie, Megan, Alexandria, and Joe; his siblings, Henry Heroux of Canada, Deon and Theresa Heroux, both of Connecticut.
