Phyllis L. Morgan, 71, of Holabird Avenue, Winsted, died on Saturday, (December 24, 2005). She was the wife of John Morgan for 45 years. Born July 16, 1934 in Winsted; the daughter of the late George and Clair (Northway) La Rocque. She was a graduate of Gilbert School and Bay Path Junior College. Mrs. Morgan served on the Board of Selectman for four years in Winsted, and in her last term was elected Mayor. She served in this capacity from 1981 to 1983. She was a volunteer for the Valley Thrift Shop in Winsted. She was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church for 71 years. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by; a son, John Phillip Morgan of Winsted and a daughter, Jacqueline Morgan Hall, her husband, Gregory Hall and a grandson, Morgan Hall of Denver, CO. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, from Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted at 9:30 a.m. to St. Joseph's Church, Winsted for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted in the spring. Friends may call on Wednesday, December 28, at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, Winsted from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, December 29, from 9- 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Foothills Visiting Nurses Association, 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098 and/or The Center for Cancer Care, 200 Kennedy Drive, Torrington, CT 06790.
