ROCHESTER — Richard Q. Lachance, 81 formerly of 12 D Wellsweep Acres, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at the Rochester Manor following a period of failing health.Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Lebanon, Maine, a son of the late Arthur and Tressie (Cram) Lachance. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later owned and operated his own trucking company, Lachance Trucking and after he retired, he enjoyed working in the flea market industry. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7, The Elks Lodge and the VFW and the Rochester Housing Authority from 1996 to 2005. In his youth, he played semi-pro baseball in Rochester.Members of his family include two daughters, Sheri Hayes and her husband, Dennis, of Rochester, and Wendy Loomis of Rochester; four grandchildren, Jennifer Veuk of Rochester, Tami Hayes of Maine, and Lauren and Kerriann Loomis, both of Rochester; one great-grandchild, Tiffany Veuk of Rochester.His wife, Kathryn Lachance; and a brother, Donald Lachance, predeceased him.Family and friends may call Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester.A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery in the spring.
