Eva LAFERRIERE

WHITINSVILLE— Eva Messier, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2005. Eva was born in Quebec, Canada, on November 27, 1903, she was the daughter of Josephhat and Sophie (Plouffe) Laferriere. She moved to Grafton, MA, with her family when she was sixteen years old and had also lived in Whitinsville and most recently in Uxbridge. Eva was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Lemelin; her second husband, Victor Messier and a son, Norman Messier. She is survived by her daughter, Alfreda Lachapelle and her son-in-law, Norman Lachapelle, with whom she lived for 25 years. Eva was dearly loved by her grandson, Ken Lachapelle and his wife Claire; her two granddaughters, June (Lachapelle) Polland and her husband, Tom and Renee (Lachapelle) Weihn and her husband Francis; her great grandchildren Aimee, Tessa, Trevor, Jess, Jared, Kylie, Britney and Kasey; her eleven great-great grandchildren with whom she had frequent contact; a brother, Joseph Laferriere; and several nephews and nieces. She is also predeceased by three brothers, Camile, Raymond and Wilfred Laferriere and five sisters, Hermiline Nowell, Claire Desrosis, Mary Ann Castonguay, Cecelia Rheaume and Melvina Lemein. Eva loved her evenings of playing Bingo at the Whitinsville Knights of Columbus Hall and at the Northbridge American Legion Hall where she had many friends and admirers She was an avid quilter who provided many family members and friends with her beautiful quilts. In her senior years and right up to this past fall she was frequently seen, supporting her grandchildren at sporting events. She was known to many as "Memere". She especially enjoyed watching the Patriots, the Red Sox, and Emeril on television and taking an occasional trip to Foxwoods. Eva’s funeral service will be held on Tues., Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, MA. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Tue., Dec. 27, from 9-11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
