LaVIOLETTE, Kingsley W. -- Mattawan, MI -- Passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005. Mr. LaViolette was born August 17, 1923 to Camille and Jennie (Wallace) LaViolette, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Kingsley served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II, serving in the Philippines; and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #3030 in Otsego. For many years he was the owner and operator of his own farm and agricultural business. He loved his dogs and enjoyed collecting scrap metal. Surviving are a daughter and a son, Nancy LaViolette of Florida, and Kingsley (Kim) LaViolette of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Jim (Rosie) Mollitor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phoebe "Tawny" Helms in 1972; his son-in-law, J.D. Burns; and his ex-wife, Phoebe LaViolette. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Winkel Funeral Home Otsego where Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Gary S. Wales officiating. Interment will follow at Alamo Center Cemetery with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #3030. Contributions in Kingsley's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
