Nelson P. LEMAY

CHICOPEE – Nelson P. LeMay, Sr., 87, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 24, 2005. He was born in Chicopee on June 1, 1918 a beloved son of the late William and Laura (Guyette) LeMay and moved to Columba Street in Chicopee Falls in 1952. He was employed for many years as a gun smith at the Savage Arms Company in Chicopee and Westfield and retired in 1980. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 104th Infantry and attained the rank of Private First Class. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in action against enemy forces. He was a communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849. His beloved wife, Theresa G. "Terry" (Barsalou) LeMay was Called Home on June 27, 1997. They were married at Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls on January 23, 1945 and enjoyed 52 years of happiness together. He leaves his loving children, Nelson P. LeMay, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Manchester, NH, Carol C. LeMay of Gill and Robert R. LeMay and his wife Cheryl of Chicopee. His loving grandchildren, Michael LeMay of Iowa, Laura-Beth Tessier and her husband Roger of Alabama and Theresa LeMay of Chicopee. His dear sister, Harriet Sampeck of Chicopee and his many dear nephews and nieces. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning, December 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. in Saint Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, in the Aldenville section of Chicopee. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery on Olsen Street in Aldenville. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street in Chicopee.
