SHAFRANSKY, John Frederick (Retired Teacher) Peacefully in hospital on Saturday, November 27, John Shafransky at the age of 58. Beloved husband of Maria and devoted father of Markian (Emily). Survived by his sister Halyna Shafransky; mother-in-law Katherine Hladuniw; brother-in-law Anatole Hladuniw (Kathy); aunts Luba Kunanec (Steve) and Stella Petrasek (Daniel); uncles Denis Holderberg (Diane) and John Holderberg (Alicia); cousins Lesa, Michael (Dilsen), Stefan (Maureen), Anna, Andrew (Fadia), Rosalie, Michelle, Natasha, Clayton and Katrina. Special uncle to Lisa (Matt), Tamara (Craig) and Nicholas and great uncle to Aurielle. Friends may visit at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent Street on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Panachyda and prayers at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine (Green Valley Drive). In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
