Alva P. LOISELLE

Willimantic - Judge Alva P. Loiselle, 95, of Willimantic, husband of the late Genevieve (Bernard) Loiselle and the late Laura (Rowan) Loiselle, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, in Haven Health Center of Windham.He was born July 4, 1910 in Willimantic, the son of Heliodore and Mary (Parent) Loiselle.Judge Loiselle attended local schools. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1934 and the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1943. Admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1943, he served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Willimantic and Town Counsel for the Town of Windham. Later, he was appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas from 1952 to 1957; Judge of the Superior Court from 1957 to 1971; Chief Judge of the Superior Court from 1970 to 1971 and Justice of the Supreme Court from May 1971 to July 1980.He was a member of the Windam County Bar Association, The Connecticut Bar Association and The American Bar Association.Judge Loiselle was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Willimantic.His survivors include four nieces and nephews, Louise Loiselle and Helena Corona, of Niantic, Mark Loiselle, of Willimantic, and Christine Houlihan, of Waterbury. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Matilda Loiselle, of Niantic, and Dorothy Loiselle, of Willimantic.He was predeceased by two brothers, Edmund and Arthur Loiselle.His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church on Valley Street in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. There are no calling hours.
