Sophie A. MACK

EAST GREENBUSH, NY -- Sophie A. Mack Surprenant, 82, of Evergreen Commons Health Care Facility, East Greenbush and formerly of Cohoes, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 embraced by her loving family. Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Julia Horvath Mack and wife of the late William J. Surprenant. Sophie was a lifelong area resident and received her education in the Cohoes school system. She was employed as a sales clerk for Juliette's Clothing and was a seamstress for Troy Town Shirt and also was an assistant manager for the former GEX food court in Latham. Sophie was a former Brownie and Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren, shopping, traveling and dancing with the girls. She always took time to take care of her elderly relatives. Sophie is survived by her loving children, Judith Retzlaff and her husband Stephen of Speigletown and Thomas D. Surprenant and his wife Lisa of Cohoes; her cherished grandchildren, Deborah, Ryan and Adam; her adored great-grandchildren, Jacob and Julianna; her brothers, Stephen Mack and his wife Helen of Waterford and Nicholas Mack and his wife Stella of Vt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Mack. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services are under the direction of Fitzgerald Funeral Home Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, N.Y.
