Durand, Juanita Maraist Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Juanita Maraist Durand, 89, who died Sunday, Dec. 25, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will be in St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Mrs. Durand was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Martin de Tours and a member of AARP. Mrs. Juanita enjoyed reading and puzzles in her spare time, but most of all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include her four sons, Gerard F. Durand Jr., Steven P. Durand, Daniel J. Durand and Louis G. Durand, all of St. Martinville; her daughter, Kathleen Durand, St. Martinville; and a sister, Margaret "Git" Segura, St. Martinville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard Durand Sr.; and her sister, Annabel Bienvenu. The family requested that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
