FRANKLIN — Scott R. Marceau, 51, of 45 Shaw Road in Franklin died at his home Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 following a short illness. He was born in Franklin, Oct. 2, 1954, son of Arthur and Dorothy (Shepard) Marceau. A lifelong resident of Franklin, he was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1973. He served as a police officer for the City of Franklin for 11 years. He and his wife then owned and operated K & M Tobacco Shop and K & M Sports Shop in Franklin for more than 20 years. After selling his business he worked for Rowell's Sewer and Drain Company until his illness. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He served as a Merrimack County Bail Commissioner for several years. He was an active member of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce for 16 years, serving on the board of directors for 12 years and president for two years. He ran the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited, member of the Citizens Committee for the search of a new police chief, member of the Franklin Lighting Committee for 20 years, and member of the Franklin Downtown Merchants Association. He was named the Citizen of the Year in 1995, he was the recipient of the Sam Walton Business Leader Award in 1999. He also was presented the Exceptional Commitment and Achievement Award from the Lakes Region Planning Commission in 2001. He brought the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and Public Service Company of New Hampshire together to create the Eastman Falls Park, worked with the city of Franklin, the School District and Chamber of Commerce to build a handicap accessible fishing and boat ramp on the Winnipesaukee River. He led the way for the creation of the Kenrick Park, once an empty lot in downtown Franklin, organized summer concerts in the Kenrick Park for the chamber, kept the chamber booth current with brochures and the sign board updated, helped create and chair the Franklin "Frontier Days," chaired two large country music festivals feathering well known artists, was past chairman of the Chamber Golf Tournaments, chaired the Sportsmen Show, led the fund raiser for the purchase of flags which are displayed along the main streets in Franklin, active member of all the Franklin Chamber events, Brood Stock Atlantic Salmon Program on the Pemigewassett River with the New Hampshire Fish and Game and enjoyed working with school children on the Adopt a Salmon Program. His family includes his wife of 30 years, Suzanne "Sue" (Michel) Marceau of Franklin; his parents, Arthur and Dorothy (Shepard) Marceau of Franklin; two brothers, Gordon "Joe" Marceau of Franklin and David P. Marceau of Andover; two nephews, Joshua Bond and Austin Marceau; aunts, uncles and cousins.Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin.The William F.
