Sachiko MATSUMOTO

Sachiko "Nancy" Bolduc, age 77, of Sudbury, MA, formerly of Fair Oaks, CA, and Folsom, CA, died Monday, October 10, 2005, at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. She was the wife of the late Norman Bolduc. Born in Osaka, Japan on July 31, 1928 she was the daughter of Fusayo Matsumoto of Chiba, Japan, and the late Terukichi Matsumoto. In 1958, Mrs. Bolduc came to the United States with her husband, who was serving in the Marine Corps, and they resided in Oxnard, CA. She became an American citizen in 1961. Through the ensuing years Mrs. Bolduc lived the life of a military spouse, residing at Tachikawa Air Base in Tokyo, Japan, Travis Air Base in Fairfield, CA, and Westover Air Base in Chicopee, MA. During her husband's tour in Vietnam in 1967-68, she lived in Assonet, MA.Mrs. Bolduc was a homemaker and worked as a florist and in a restaurant in California. She particularly enjoyed cooking and was known for bringing favorite dishes to her family, friends, neighbors, doctors, and nurses. She was very creative and mastered many handicrafts and arts, including crocheting, knitting, quilting, flower arranging, gardening, doll-making, and cake decorating. Recently she had taken up water-color painting. She and her husband hosted several Japanese exchange students through the American Institute of Foreign Study.Although Mrs. Bolduc lived with chronic kidney disease for forty years and survived breast cancer, she maintained a positive attitude and continued to make the most of life. She enjoyed traveling and visited California, Italy, and Japan last year. After starting her kidney dialysis treatments, she drove herself to the clinic most of the time and continued to pursue her interests.She is survived by her son, John Bolduc and his wife Maria Abate of Concord, MA, and her mother Fusayo, her brothers Yukio, Takayuki, and Takashi, sisters Kyoko and Itoe all of Japan. A remembrance service will take place in Sudbury, MA, at the Northwood Condominiums Clubhouse on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 11:00 AM and a religious service will be held at the Gedatsu Church, 4016 Happy Ln., Sacramento, CA, on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 10:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Bolduc's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., Ste. 1100, New York, NY 10016, www.kidney.org/support/makegift/index.cfm, 800-622-9010, and the Japan Society of Boston, One Milk Street, Boston, MA 02109.
