William Wilfred Maurice -- July 22, 1930 - December 26, 2005 -- NORWICH- William Wilfred Maurice, 75, of 106 Peck Street, died Monday at Beechwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New London. He was born in Montville, July 22, 1930, son of the late Phillipe N. and Clara (Gauvin) Maurice. He was married to Shirley (King) Maurice on January 14, 1951, she died May 2, 1997. Mr. Maurice graduated from Norwich Free Academy Class of 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for twentythree years for the former J.B. Martin Company in Norwich, was the Manager of the Groton Reid & Hughes Store and also later worked at Tarny's Men's Shop in New London until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Patrick Cathedral of Norwich. He is survived by four daughters, Debra A. Roush and her husband Robert of Norwich, Wendy J. Bohara and her husband Gary of Oakdale, Robin J. Poirier and her husband Robert of Norwich and Susan C. Maurice and her fiancé David Ferris of Jewett City. He is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, Norwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Montville with Full Military Honors. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The American Diabetes Association, CT Affiliate Inc., 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450 or Beechwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 31 Vauxhall St., New London, CT 06320. Tillinghast Funeral Home, 25 Main Street, Central Village is in charge of arrangements.
