Harvey O. Menard, 85, native of Nashwauk, Minn., and long time resident of Silver Bay, Hibbing, and Duluth, died peacefully on Dec. 16, 2005, with his daughters at his side. He was a graduate of Nashwauk High School and received his engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. A decorated veteran, Harvey was a Captain in the US Army and served in the European Theater during World War II. Following the war, Harvey was employed by Reserve Mining and Hibbing Taconite. A loving father, Harvey instilled in his daughters compassion, empathy, a thirst for reading, and a love of nature. A kind, patient and humble man, Harvey will be missed by the people his life has touched. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret. Harvey is survived by his daughters, Mary (John) Hubbard of Duluth, Kathryn (Gary Oxman) Menard of Portland, Ore., Margaret J. Menard of San Francisco, Calif., Jane (Peter) Borgren of Duluth, and Teresa Davis of Duluth; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. FAMILY GRAVESIDE SERVICE:were held in Hibbing, MN. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the kind and attentive staff at Sunrise Home in Two Harbors. 'Do not think of me as gone... I am with you still-in each new dawn.'
