Robert "Frenchie" L. Mercier, Sr., a 48-year resident of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, December 9, 2005. Robert was born in Arbent, France, which was his home, until the age of 25. Robert served in the French Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio where he met his future wife. They were married in France and lived there for 3 years before moving to San Antonio. Robert was an active participant of the church, becoming more so after the passing of his wife, Raquel, six years ago. Robert acquired the nickname "Frenchie" because of his nationality and his heavy French accent. Frenchie was self-employed in the wood floor business and was considered by many contractors as the "Number One" floor installer in the city. Robert was a simple, fun loving person who never failed to entertain or at least bring a smile to others. Many people were easily drawn to him and liked to listen to him speak. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Survivors include Anita R. Lopez, mother-in-law; son, Robert Mercier, Jr. and wife Carolyn; daughter Rosalinda M. Gomez and husband Robert; son, Jean-Claude Mercier; son, Patrick Mercier and wife Joan and daughter, Michelle Mercier. Grandchildren include Jeremy, Melany, Amber, Mariah Mercier, Gregory Gomez, and Debbie and Charlotte Johnson. Robert also has a brother, Jean-Pierre Mercier residing in France. SERVICES Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 12th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13th for a mass of catholic burial to be celebrated at San Juan Capistrano at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
