SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Pergie Mire, 80, who passed away at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Cedric Sonnier, pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, La., will officiate at the services. Readers will be Skye Trahan and Kelly Trahan.Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be "Here I Am Lord", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Amazing Grace". Mr. Mire was a native of Vatican and a resident of Scott for most of his life. He retired from University Medical Center in Lafayette as a security guard. Mr. Mire was a veteran of the military, having served in the U.S. Marines, 14th Division during World War II. He had been a member of the VFW Post 9822.Survivors include one daughter, Krista Trahan and her husband, Russell, of Carencro; one grandchild, Shane Trahan and his wife, Kelly, of Scott; two great-grandchildren, Skye Trahan and Seth Trahan, of Scott; two brothers, Rodney Mire and his wife, Mary Anne, of Vatican and Andrus Mire and his wife, Thelma, of Scott; and three sisters, Margie Viator, of Scott, Helen Royer and her husband, Adam, of Vatican and Hazel Dupuis, of Sulphur, La.He was preceded in death by his parents, Duplex Mire and the former Arthmese Richard; one brother, Hurbert Mire; and one sister, Abbie Mire.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.The family requests visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday.Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N.
