Viola MONDOUX

HUDSON FALLS- Viola (Mondoux) Leroux Penders, 91, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, formerly of Notre Dame Street, and most recently of the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on March 17, 1914, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Antoine and Adeline (Benson) Mondoux. Viola was employed at Troy Shirt Guild in Glens Falls for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls and a lifelong member of St. Anne's Sodality of that parish. Viola was a charter member of the Order of the Eagles Auxiliary of Glens Falls, a member of the AARP and a member of the Hudson Falls-Fort Edward Senior Citizens. She was a well-known chaplain in many organizations. Viola's life was filled with faith, hope, love and charity, which touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves a void, which will never be filled. Viola was predeceased by her husbands, Arthur J. Leroux, who passed away in November 1970 and James Kenneth Penders, who passed away in December of 1997. Her seven brothers: Joseph Mondoux, Adolphus "Bido" Mondoux, William Mondoux, Henry Mondoux, Alphonse "Shorty" Mondoux, Arthur Mondoux and Albert Mondoux; and five sisters: Edith Hart, Elizabeth Hart, Alma LaBelle Manier, Nellie Columb Penders and Louise Toomey, also passed away before her. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Moulton and her husband, John, of Queensbury; a son, John A. Leroux of Hudson Falls; six grandchildren: Kevin Moulton and his wife, Tracey, and their children, Liam and Mikayla, of Gansevoort, Beth Ann Single and her husband, Stephen, and their children, Matthew, Michael and Colleen of Orange Park, Fla., Mark Moulton and his daughter, Erica, of Queensbury, David Moulton and his wife, Amy, and their children, Christine and Stephen of Hudson Falls, Michelle Hammond and her husband, Thomas, and their children, Elizabeth, John and Katherine, of Rome and Nicole Payant and her husband, Chris, and their son, Zachary of Saratoga; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church in Hudson Falls. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering at McManus Hall, next to St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church, after the cemetery service.
