Robert Joseph Nadeau, 61, of Danbury, passed away May 9, 2005 from his brief battle with lung cancer. His devoted wife, Shelley Kayser Nadeau and his family were by his side.He was born in New Brunswick, Canada, May 22, 1943. Robert moved from Madawaska, Maine to Danbury in 1961. He met his wife Shelley upon moving to Connecticut and started a family shortly thereafter. He was a carpenter by trade and worked at various jobs throughout his life including, Eagle Pencil, Western Connecticut State University maintenance department, as well as a self employed carpenter. He most recently worked for Local 210 Carpenters Union until he was diagnoses with Multiple Sclerosis in December of 1999. At this time, he became an active part of hid grandchildren's life. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Danbury. He enjoyed hunting and deep-sea fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed following his nephew, Jerry Nadeau.In addition to his wife, Robert leaves behind his five daughters: Michelle Cole and her husband Carl of Roxbury; Tracey Kurjiaka and her husband Andrew of Danbury; Kimberly McNamara and her husband Craig of Danbury; Cherri Ridgeway of Danbury and Melissa Nadeau of Danbury.He also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Christin, Carl Jr. and Gwen Cole; Andrew, Shelby and Trevor Kurjiaka; Matthew, Sara and Grace McNamara; and Brittany Ridgeway.He was a devoted father to his own children as well as an important figure to many of his nieces and nephews. As a father to five girls, he treasured his relationship with his son-in-laws. His friends, especially those at Carland Autobody and Bethel Power, will miss him dearly. His loss is felt by many of his family and friends.He is also survived by his parents Aurele and Amelda Nadeau of Madawaska, Maine and twelve brothers and sisters: Gilman Nadeau of Waterbury; John Nadeau of St. Jean-de-la-Lande, Quebec, Canada; Jerry Nadeau of Troutman, N.C.; Roger Nadeau of New Britain; Philip Nadeau and Ronald Nadeau of Madawaska, Maine; Norman Nadeau of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Pat Pruc of Ft. Fairfield, Maine; Nancy D'Allaire of Corinth, Missouri; Betty Caron of Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada; Joann Moore of Goen, Missouri; and Rena Mae Voisine of Ft. Kent, Maine. He is predeceased by his brother Reno Nadeau of Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada and his son-in-law Edmond Ridgeway of Danbury.Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, Main St. in Danbury. A Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Friday at 10 a.m. After cremation, a private burial service will be held at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 30 West St., Danbury, CT 06810 or Ann's Place, 107 Newtown Road, Danbury CT 06810.
