Paul ""Joey'' Oubre, Sr., a retired operator for Celotex Corp., died Monday, February 21, 2005 at Veterans Memorial Hospital from surgery complications. He was 77 years. Mr. Oubre was born in Vacherie, LA and lived in Edgard, LA for the past 15 years. He was a Veteran of World War II in the Army. Survivors include: a son, Paul Oubre, Jr.; four granddaughters: Tracey L. Long, Margaret, Sharon and Melissa Lemieux; one grandson; four great-grandchildren; four sisters: Elmire O. Duronslet of Hahnville, LA, Irene O. Legaux and Agnelia O. Becnel of Edgard, LA and Marguerita O. Davis of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Henry Oubre; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Andrew and Nellie F. Oubre; a daughter, Marie O. Lemieux; two sisters: Gertia O. Gautier and Archangel O. Goins; and three brothers: Arthur, Andrew and Sammy Oubre. Relatives and friends of the family and parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, February 25, 2005 - 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment Church Cemetery. Arrangements by THE BALONEY FUNERAL HOME. Published in The Times-Picayune on 2/24/2005.
