MACKINAW CITY - Miriam P. Peppler, age 81 of Mackinaw City, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at her home.She was born Dec. 4, 1923 in Mackinaw City to Leo and Margaret (Burgess) Paquet. On May 21, 1945 in Mackinaw City, Miriam married Walter A. Peppler, who preceded her in death in 1981. Miriam and Walter made their home in Illinois after Walter's discharge from the service and in 1992 Miriam moved back to Mackinaw City. Miriam was a homemaker and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Mackinaw City Women's Club and enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid reader.Survivors include seven children, Pat (Martha) Peppler of Barrington, Ill., Mark (Carmel) Peppler of Mackinaw City, Peggy (Joe) Persaud of Mt. Dora, Fla., Mary Peppler of Bullhead City, Ariz., Paula (Gary) Engelman of Grayslake, Ill., Matthew (Bill Janda) Peppler of Chicago and Phillip (Larissa) Peppler of Wawatosa, Wis.; one brother, Jack (Margaret) Paquet of Mackinaw City; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Walter, Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Leo and Bill.Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where a Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, also at the church, with the Rev. Anthony Cureton officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mackinaw City Women's Club or the Mackinaw City Public Library. Arrangements are being handled by the Christian Funeral Home of Cheboygan.
